(One of the oldest public museums in the world - big and absorbing enough to get thoroughly lost in).
The museum is being restructured in 2009 and will be closed from 23 December 2008 to November 2009. The café will also be closed during this period, but their rather fine gift shop will stay open for business as usual. The Western Art Print Room, will remain accessible BY APPOINTMENT to specialist/academic visitors.

(Anthropological delights. Lower Gallery and exhibition area in new extension are open. Lift to all floors, toilets, disabled toilet and baby change facilities available. Upper Gallery incl. majority of the weapons and armour collections are closed until 2008 for re-display work. Excellent website with virtual exhibits.)
